Big Changes!!

So we leave for a few days, when nothing is happening (that we can really see).  And when we get back, things just fly along!!!  In the last week, we've got a completed exterior to the garage, fireplace, insulation (or installation, as Will called it), and now drywall!!!  Hope all the plumbing and electrical are right!

As of tonight, Kate's room has the most drywall.

The stairs to the garage apartment went in this week.  It is such a cute space...so many options!!

And they started trimming the outside of the garage!

We can't wait to see how much they get done next week while we are gone!

Sorry for the long delay in posting, but they have now moved to the inside of the house and are working on the "guts".  The plumbing, electric, and HVAC are going in.

I'm sure the concrete guys were not too happy to see this in the new garage floor!

It was a little bittersweet to see this sitting in the front yard...

And on a sad note, we have lost a duck :(  The female of the pair of ducks, who swam in our new driveway, was found struck by a car last week.  The male spent two days quacking at her in the street. 

We are all so sad!

Windows on the World

So, last week was a little crazy, but it is amazing how much they can get done in a weeks time, when we are out of town and the sun is shining!!  When we unexpectedly left town last weekend, they were working on the roof...

...and when we returned, we had windows and even a few doors!!

Now just pray this weather holds out until they get the roof done and can move inside!

Stairway to Heaven...

We now have a temporary staircase that leads us to the upstairs (granted, it drops you right into Kate's room where her closet should be, but hey...)!!!  Between the raindrops (aka stormy weather and yes, boots are a necessity when visiting the lot [see the kids pic below]!), the dedicated Airhart staff and framers have been working hard!! 

We have all exterior walls on the second floor, as well as a few interior walls!  Now, if only the weather holds for a few days, maybe we'll get a real roof!!!  There is a new load of lumber sitting in the future driveway, and the resident ducks are still there.  We hope to see more progress as the week goes on...

A Break in the Rain

Ok, so we've all heard the saying, "April showers bring May flowers," right?  But this is ridiculous!!!  So we finally got a break in the rain (for 1 1/2 days), and these guys worked hard for those few dry hours.  So here we have some bedroom walls!  The kids now have an idea of where their rooms will be, and ours is beginning to take shape in the back.
